The Galaxy Note II, a follow-up to the Galaxy Note of Samsung Electronics Co., will feature a 5.5-inch display, according to a report.

Boy Genius Report, a U.S. weblog specializing in technology, said on Monday that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note II at its press conference slated for Aug. 15. BGR said that Samsung will replace the original Galaxy Note’s 5.3 inch display with a larger Super AMOLED screen in the Galaxy Note II.

BGR said that the new model of the smartphone lineup would be thinner and taller than its predecessor, and fit well in human hands. The sequel to the Galaxy Note will also reportedly have a more powerful quad-core Exynos processor, Android’s new mobile operating system called “Jelly Bean,” a 12 megapixel rear camera and provide more useful applications for writing with S-pens.

Samsung expects the Galaxy Note II to help the company take a bigger share in the crucial U.S. mobile handset market with its 5.5-inch display. Meanwhile, Samsung’s latest smartphone Galaxy S3 is being received well across the global market.

삼성전자의 히트 상품 ‘갤럭시노트’의 새로운 버전인 ’갤럭시노트2‘가 5.5인치 화면을 장착하고 등장한다는 소식이다.

미국 IT 전문매체 BGR에 따르면 삼성전자는 오는 8월15일 정식 기자 회견을 갖고 갤럭시노트2를 공개한다. 갤럭시노트2는 전작의 5.3인치 화면에 비해 한층 커진 슈퍼아몰레드 5.5인치 화면을 갖췄다고 한다.

이 IT 전문매체는 갤럭시노트2가 더 얇고 더 늘씬하고 더 휴대하기 편리할 것이라고 밝혔다. 또한 쿼드코어 프로세서가 탑재되고, 전자펜(S펜)을 통한 필기 기능을 더욱 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 소프트웨어가 제공될 것으로 전망된다. BGR 소식통에 의하면 갤럭시노트2가 안드로이드 4.1 젤리빈과 1200만 화소의 전면 카메라까지 동반할 것이라는 예측이다.

삼성전자는 주력 스마트폰인 ’갤럭시S3‘가 선전하고 있는 가운데 5.5인치 갤럭시노트2로 미국 시장 선점을 기대하고 있다.
