Tongyang Life offload all shares in holding firm
Tongyang Life Insurance Co., South Korea's fifth-largest insurer, said Sunday it has offloaded all its shares in the troubled holding company, in an apparent bid to tide over falling credibility. 히말라야 산맥 고지의 설선(雪線) 부근에 살고 있다는 전설 적인 설인 혹은 인수(人獸)는 사실 곰이라고 영국의 한 과학자가 17일 주장했다. 옥스퍼드 대학의 브라이언 사이크스 교수(유전자학)는 DNA 분석을 통해 그동안 의견이 분분했던 인수는 북극곰의 후예로 추정된다고 밝혔다. 사이크스 교수는 히말라야 산맥 현지인들이 '예티'(Yeti)로 부르는 인수의 머리 카락 샘플의 DNA를 분석해 동물 게놈 데이터베이스와 비교했다. 그 결과 북극에서 발견된 최소한 4만년 전의 북극곰 턱뼈의 DNA와 유전적으로 흔적이 같다는 점을 발견했다고 설명했다. 그는 "인수는 새로운 종(種)일 가능성이 있다. 아마 북극곰과 갈색 곰 사이에 생겨난 잡종일 것"이라고 추정하고 앞으로 과제는 살아있는 그 잡종을 찾는 것이라 고 말했다. 사이크스 교수의 이같은 학설은 아직 정식으로 발표되지 않았으나 현재 같은 분야를 연구하는 학자들이 논문을 검토하는 단계에 있다. 덴마크 자연사
