SKC가 인도네시아 최대 석유화학기업 찬드라아스리(Chandra Asri)와 손잡고 동남아서 친환경 소재사업 확장에 나선다. 8일 업계 관계자에 따르면 SKC의 친환경 소재사업 자회사인 에코밴스는 지난달 찬드라아스리와 생분해 소재 사업 업무협약을 체결했다. 양사는 에코밴스의 생분해 플라스틱 소재를 적용한 제품을 공동으로 개발하고 고객사도 함께 발굴한다는 계획이다. 향후 동남아시아의 폐플라스틱 문제 해결을 위해 추가 투자도 검토중인 것으로 알려졌다. SKC는 이차전지, 반도체 소재와 함께 친환경 화학소재를 3대 성장축으로 삼고 사업포트폴리오를 강화하고 있다. 그 일환으로 생분해소재(Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate, PBAT) 제품의 상업화를 위해 2021년 대상, LX인터내셔널과 함께 합작사 에코밴스를 설립했다. 당시 SKC는 1,040억원을 투입해 57.8%의 지분을 확보하고 대상과 LX인터내셔널이 각 400억원, 360억원을 출자하는 계획을 발표했었다
