The suspects, who allegedly killed Pi at his home with a weapon early Thursday, were nabbed at Jeju airport as they tried to leave the island.
The three were among five people caught on surveillance camera footage going in and out of Pi’s home.
The five suspects, all Chinese nationals, were found to be staying in Korea illegally after entering the country without visas from late last year to April this year. They were working in the same construction site as the victim.
The suspects told police that they went to Pi’s home to get their wages.
In April, two other Chinese nationals illegally staying in Jeju murdered a fellow Chinese in a dispute over illegal job placements.
