Asiana Airlines is seeking to achieve new growth by repositioning itself as a carrier specializing in long-distance flights. As part of the new direction, it plans to introduce new flight routes connecting South Korea to Europe and the Americas, as well as bring in more top-quality, upgraded aircraft.
In line with the push, Asiana will start offering a new flight from Seoul to Barcelona, Spain, starting from Aug. 30. The flight will be available four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The aircraft being used for the Seoul-Barcelona route is the Boeing 777-200, which offers “smartium business” class seats that are able to bend 180 degrees backward
The addition of the new Barcelona route follows Asiana’s launch of a new flight from Seoul to Venice, Italy, this month, and expands Asiana’s international flight network to include both western and central Europe.
During the summer peak season for international travel, Asiana also plans to offer its Korea-Norway route connecting Seoul to Oslo from once to twice a week.
The Korean carrier also plans to procure 32 long-distance aircraft by 2022 in order for long-distance routes to make up 60 percent of all the local and international flight routes it offers.
