A 2-year-old girl has died while under anesthesia at a dental clinic in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.
Cheonan Seobuk Police said that the girl died on Friday after undergoing anesthetics for cavity treatment earlier that day.
During the treatment, her pulse spiked and oxygen saturation level fell. Dentists at the clinic reportedly gave her first aid treatment and made an emergency call to have her rushed to a bigger hospital. The girl died at the hospital later that day.
According to the girl’s family, she was in good health and had not been taking any particular medication. The family members claimed to the police that the dentists at the clinic should be held accountable for her death, as they lost a critical moment by trying to find a solution themselves instead of calling 119 immediately.
The police plan to carry out investigations, while the girl’s body will be transferred to the National Forensic Service for autopsy.
