A 40-year-old man was arrested on Oct. 6 for secretly filming himself having intercourse with a prostitute, according to a report from The Herald Business, the sister paper of The Korea Herald.

Gangnam Police Station reported Wednesday that the suspect was arrested on charges of filming the act without the woman‘s knowledge and was arrested on the spot at a hotel in Gangnam last Friday. 

The suspect is charged with allegedly violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Assault Crimes, specifically using a camera to film, and Special Act on the Prevention of Sex Trafficking. 

Police said that the woman had been the one to report the case when she noticed the suspect filming them with a small camera. The woman was arrested on the spot for prostitution.

According to the police investigation, the suspect confessed saying, “I filmed it to view it later for personal pleasure.” The suspect has no previous criminal record.

This case received attention within the Gangnam Police Station due to the rarity of women in the profession who make an official report due to the risk of detainment.

The police are planning on handing over the case to the prosecutors’ office next week.
