One two-star Navy commander and a couple of two-star Air Force officers were also promoted by a rank each.
The appointments are a follow-up to the Aug. 8 reshuffle of the top military brass by President Moon Jae-in.
Moon chose Air Force Gen. Jeong Kyeong-doo as the JCS chairman after picking Song Young-moo, a former Navy chief, as his first defense minister.
The left-leaning president has pledged the reform of the 625,000-strong military force long dominated by the Army. (Yonhap)
