The eighth annual event held at Posco Center was attended by Posco Chairman Kwon Oh-joon, outside figures such as Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership Chairman Ahn Choong-young and some 120 company officials and representatives of suppliers, client companies and partner firms. Also present were other affiliated companies such as Posco Engineering and Construction, Posco Energy, Posco Chemtech and Posco ICT.

“We thank all of you for having actively contributed to reinforcing Posco’s competitiveness despite the Korean economy facing hardship,” Kwon said in his speech, urging the participants to continue bolstering shared growth programs. Efforts have included applying a benefits sharing system and building smart factories.

After a special lecture delivered by professor Kim Ki-chan of Catholic University, the group shared cases of successful shared growth projects. As an exemplary case of solution marketing, the group introduced a case in which the group and a client company worked together to develop a high-manganese steel welding technique solution that led to landing a contract with a major US oil company as its coordinating agency.

The event also shared the progress made in helping 13 small and mid-sized companies construct a smart factory system.

Posco has been fostering shared growth with smaller businesses since the late 1990s. It has been selected as an excellent conglomerate in the field of shared growth for the fourth consecutive year. It plans to further the initiative by supporting a total of 33 small and medium-sized businesses nationwide next year.
