Five affiliates of LG Group have received the highest mark in measuring and sharing global information on climate and water resource change, the company said Monday.

The list of LG units include LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem and LG Uplus.


They were named “Leadership A” companies by a London-based Carbon Disclosure Project, for facilitating the use of renewable energy and sharing information on how much greenhouse gas they emitted during their operations.

CDP is an independent and non-profit organization that offers companies a system for measuring, recording and managing carbon emissions.

Top marks were given to 14 Korean companies and 193 firms around the world, the group said.

The organization’s Seoul office will hold a ceremony on Tuesday to recognize the companies’ efforts in participating in the global project, it added.

LG has been expanding the use of green energy and improving production efficiency since 2008.

Under the group’s vision, LG Electronics reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 353,000 metric tons last year from 2008, an official said.
