Hyundai Motor’s Avante was the fourth best selling car in the world last year, industry data showed Monday.
According to global automobile market researcher Best Selling Cars Blog, in 2015, Hyundai Motor sold 913,152 units of the Elantra, sold as Avante in Korea, making the model the fourth most sold vehicle among 1,382 models surveyed.
Avante jumped two spots on the list from ranking sixth in 2014 with just above 800,000 deliveries.
Toyota’s Corolla topped the list for the 11th consecutive year with 14.9 million units, followed by Volkswagen’s Golf with 950,235 units and the Ford F-Series with 921,785 units sold.
“The Hyundai Avante has always been high in demand. The model is high in quality and sold at an affordable price, these factors make it a best-selling model in the C-segment,” said a Hyundai Motor representative.
“When expanding the list to top 100 bestselling cars, 13 models of Hyundai and Kia Motors are included, which is the most among all global automobile manufacturers.”
Nine models by Hyundai and Kia Motors ranked within the top 50 best-selling cars for 2015, the most of any carmaker.
Hyundai Motor’s Accent, Tucson, Sonata, i10 and Santa Fe also made the list, alongside Kia Motor’s Pride, Sportage and K3.
Volkswagen had the next most, with six models, followed by Honda, Nissan and Ford each with five models, while Toyota had four models listed as top 50 in bestselling cars.
