Keum Chun-soo, head of Hanwha Group’s strategic planning office, was named the vice chairman of the nation’s eighth-largest business as part of the group’s managerial reshuffle conducted Monday.

Keum, 63, has contributed to stabilizing the group’s overall operations and setting a concrete direction for its future growth since he began to lead the planning office in 2014, the company said in a statement.

Keum has led a number of Hanwha’s high profile corporate restructuring cases including a merger between the group’s two affiliates -- Hanwha Q CELLS and Hanwha SolarOne -- and the acquisition of four defense and chemical units from Samsung Group. Keum is the only vice chairman within the group, the company added.

The group also promoted its legal team leader Cho Hyun-il from a vice president position to a president post. Lee Min-suhk, from the management assessment team of Hanwha Chemical was also promoted to the CEO post of the group’s trading unit. Lee Man-seob was named the new CEO of Hanwha Techwin’s security business, it added.
