Chaebol scions accused of assault grilled by prosecution

[THE INVESTOR] Two third generation members of chaebol families accused of assaulting their chauffeurs have been questioned by prosecutors in the past week.
Lee Hae-wook, vice chairman of Daelim Industrial, was questioned on Sept. 28, and Hyundai BNG Steel CEO Jeong Il-seon was questioned on Sept. 23, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said.

Lee and Chung are reported to have denied the allegations. Lee reportedly admitted to verbally abusing his driver, but denied physical assault. Chung reportedly claimed that there was “light assault” on one occasion.
Lee is alleged to have assaulted two different drivers on several occasion in 2014 and 2015. Chung is accused of habitually assaulting his drivers and verbally abusing them. He has been found to have replaced 12 drivers in a period of three years, and subjecting them to unfair conditions.
