Korean badminton duo eliminated in mixed doubles quarters

The South Korean mixed doubles badminton duo of Ko Sung-hyun and Kim Ha-na got knocked out in the quarterfinals at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics on Sunday.
Xu Chen and Ma Jin of China, ranked sixth in the world, defeated the No. 2-ranked South Koreans 2-0 (21-17, 21-18) to reach the final four at Riocentro-Pavilion 4.

Ko and Kim had been 4-2 in their career against Xu and Ma before Sunday.
The South Koreans were sloppy from the get-go as the Chinese charged out to an 8-3 lead. Ko and Kim cut the deficit to 16-15 but scored just two more points the rest of the opening game.
Ko and Kim led 5-3 to start the second game but had to play catch up again after the Chinese went ahead 7-6.
The South Koreans retook the lead at 18-17, before surrendering four straight points to bow out.
South Korea has also sent players into the men's doubles and women's doubles quarterfinals, and the men's and women's rounds of 16. (Yonhap)
