[THE INVESTOR] South Korean shares traded almost flat late morning on July 26, as investors sat on the sidelines waiting for market-moving events.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index inched up 2.62 points, or 0.13 percent, to 2,014.94 as of 11:20 a.m.
Market bellwether Samsung Electronics went up 0.87 percent while global chipmaker SK hynix fell 2 percent.
Top automaker Hyundai Motor gained 1.11 percent and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors inched down 0.23 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,138.50 won against the US dollar, down 1.50 won from the previous session’s close.
