Calls mount for probe into Samsung chairman’s sex scandal

[THE INVESTOR] A series of legal complaints have been filed against Samsung Electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee after video clips showing him allegedly buying sex services were revealed last week, according to news reports on July 25.
A man in his 50s lodged a complaint on July 22 at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in Seoul, asking for an investigation into the sex scandal.

The case has been transferred to the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office.
A civic group has also filed a complaint against chairman Lee and Kim In, a former Samsung SDS CEO, at the district prosecutors’ office.
Lee, who has been bedridden after a heart attack in 2014, is being accused of paying prostitutes for sex services from 2011 to 2013 while the former chief of Samsung SDS allegedly provided places for prostitution.
Those who buy sex are subject to a 1-year jail term or a 3-million-won ($2,640) fine while those who provide places for prostitution can be imprisoned for up to three years or slapped with up to 30 million won in fine.
