The prequel to the summer blockbuster film “Train to Busan” is scheduled for release in August, according to distribution company Next Entertainment World on Monday.

Directed by the man behind the apocalyptic thriller “Train to Busan” Yeon Sang-ho, “Seoul Station” is a 93-minute-long animation film that details what happens at Seoul Station, the epicenter of the virus outbreak portrayed in “Train to Busan” that transforms humans into flesh-hungry zombies.

Voiced by actors Ryu Seung-ryong, Shim Eun-kyung and Lee Joon, the award-winning animation has been screened at various international film festivals, including the 40th Annecy International Animated Film Festival, the 20th Fantasia International Film Festival, the 34th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and the 49th International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

Released on July 20, “Train to Busan” set a new opening day record for domestic films, drawing nearly 860,000 viewers on the first day.

“Seoul Station” is scheduled to make its domestic debut at the 20th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival on July 29, and will open in local theaters on Aug. 18.
