Actor Lee Jin-wook who was summoned by the police over the charge of sexual assault on Sunday night refuted the allegation, calling it a “false accusation.”
The Suseo Police Station in southern Seoul summoned and investigated the actor after a woman came forward claiming that she was sexually assaulted by Lee.
Lee refuted all claims and gave details to the police for 11 hours, and was released Monday morning. He has filed a countersuit against the woman a day before appearing to the police, stating that he was falsely accused.
Dressed in a black formal suit, Lee said to the press before entering the police station that “falsely accusing someone just because he is well-known is a serious crime.” He added that “I will cooperate with the police thoroughly.” To the following question in regards to their relationship, Lee did not answer and walked into the building.
During the questioning, Lee testified that the woman had consented to the sexual relation. He submitted screen captures of text messages that he exchanged with the accuser. He agreed to take a lie detector test, if necessary, the police said.
The accuser, whose identity is unknown, filed a complaint against Lee on Thursday, claiming that she was assaulted sexually after they drank at his apartment on the evening of Tuesday.
She first reported the incident at a One-Stop support Center inside a police hospital, submitting her underwear as an evidence. She was called in next day for an investigation.
The police are expected to ask Lee and the woman for additional testimonies.
Meanwhile, Lee most recently appeared in the drama “Goodbye Mr. Black” and the movie “Time Renegades.”
