Doosan Infracore’s Q2 operating profit more than doubles

[THE INVESTOR] Doosan Infracore ’s second-quarter operating profit jumped 126.9 percent from a year earlier, aided by recovering North American and European markets.
On July 18, the company disclosed that its second-quarter operating profit came in at 173.5 billion won (US$ 152.71 million), and sales fell 0.2 percent from a year ago to come in at just under 1.62 trillion won.

The company said that restructuring of its heavy industries and engine businesses facilitated the large improvement, and that the rise seen in North American and European sales offset the drop in emerging economies.
With improved performance in the second quarter, the company’s first-half operating profit came to about 284.69 billion won, up 149.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the company’s finances improved last quarter as it received the payment for its industrial machinery business. According to the company, the payment enabled its debt-to-equity ratio to be reduced to 211.4 percent during the last quarter. In comparison, it was 250.5 percent in the first quarter of the year.
