North Gyeongsang Province’s tourist attraction Mungyeong Rail Bike will extend its operating hours from July 2, the Mungyeong Tourism Promotion Corporation announced Tuesday.

According to the MTPC, the 7.4-kilometer roundtrip section between Maseong-myun’s Jinnam Station and Gurang-ri Station will operate bicycles beyond the original ending time of 6 p.m.

For three Saturdays -- July 2, 9, and 16 --  bikes will be allowed to leave Chinnam Station at 6 and 7 p.m., finishing operations at 8 p.m.

Between July 23 and Aug. 14, when primary school students have summer vacation, the bikes will operate at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. every day, finishing at 9 p.m.

The MTPC said it may continue the extended operation times until the Korean mid-autumn festival Chuseok. It will determine its future plans based on demand and the evening temperatures in late August.

The Mungyeong Rail Bikes can be taken in groups of fours. Rental of each bike costs 25,000 won ($21).

The bike departs every hour and requires one hour to complete the circuit.
