NEW YORK (AFP) - Rap superstar Kanye West, who earlier this year topped music charts with his latest album “The Life of Pablo,” on Tuesday announced a major North American tour, set to begin in August.
“The Saint Pablo Tour” will hit nearly 40 cities across the United States and Canada, including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Montreal, Detroit, Washington and Miami, among others, according to Live Nation, which is promoting the event.
West made history earlier this year when “The Life of Pablo” became the first album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart based exclusively on streaming -- the seventh No. 1 album for the enigmatic music star.
West, who is married to reality television star Kim Kardashian, continues to pursue a side career in fashion design, in addition to his announced plans to run for president in 2020.
He also said earlier this year that he was $53 million in debt and asked his legions of fans to subscribe to Tidal, because he needed money to bring his “beautiful ideas to the world.”
