NEW YORK (AP) -- Cosmopolitan editor in chief Joanna Coles is working on a “no-nonsense” guide to some very old subjects in a very new world: sex and intimacy.

Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, told the Associated Press on Monday that it plans to release a book by Coles in 2018. The book currently is untitled. According to Harper, Coles will take on what she considers a “new sexual revolution” and offer advice for how to find “sustaining love” when all the rules have changed.

“As the editor of Cosmopolitan, I talk to hundreds of young women about the sometimes bewilderingly rapid changes taking place in our romantic lives, and the role new technology plays in our search for intimacy and commitment,” Coles said in a statement issued through her publisher. “It’s easier than ever to connect with people, yet studies show young women and men are lonelier than ever. I want to take an in-depth look at our new rules of engagement and to suggest some guidelines for surviving the digital disruption to our love lives.”

Financial terms for the book were not disclosed. Coles was represented by Washington attorney Robert Barnett, whose other clients include President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in 2016.

Coles, 54, has been Cosmopolitan’s editor in chief since 2012. She and her husband, the author and journalist Peter Godwin, cowrote “The Three of Us: A New Life in New York,” which came out in 2000.
