The blockbuster movie “Train to Busan” has been invited to the 69th Cannes Film Festival, according to the film’s distributor NEW.

Director Yeon Sang-ho and the film’s main cast -- actor Gong Yoo, actress Jung Yu-mi and child actress Kim Soo-an -- will attend the film’s world premiere at Cannes and its official red carpet event.

The movie, which depicts the story of people trying to flee to Busan, will be screened in the festival’s official out of competition section, Midnight Screenings.

This is Yeon’s second invitation to the Cannes Film Festival. Yeon, who has worked mainly with animation films, was previously invited to the 65th Cannes festival for his animation movie “The King of Pigs” (2011).

The film festival will be held May 11-22 in Cannes, France. The screening schedule will be available on its official website www.festival-cannes.com by the beginning of May.

Following its premiere at the international festival, the movie will be released in Korea in summer.
