Korea’s largest food manufacturer Nongshim said Thursday that it has set an annual overseas sales target of $720 million for this year, a 44 percent increase from last year’s $500 million.

Company officials said it would focus on sales of its flagship noodle soup product Shin Ramyeon in the United States and Japan as well as China and Southeastern Asian countries.

In China, Nongshim’s sales hit a record high last year by selling products worth about $210 million, a 16.6 percent increase from a year earlier.

Nongshim’s online sales through Alibaba Group’s Taobao, a Chinese online shopping website, increased 240 percent, according to company officials.

The company currently exports food items to over 100 countries, and its reputed food product Shin Ramyeon recorded a total of 10 trillion won in sales so far, being the first single food item to boast such a record.
