World No. 1 South Korean bobsleigh duo won the grand prize at the nation's amateur athlete award ceremony on Wednesday for their solid performances last season.

At the annual Coca-Cola Sports Awards in Seoul, the two-man bobsleigh team of Won Yun-jong and Seo Young-woo were honored with the MVP Award. The award has been given to amateur athletes since 1995.

Pilot Won and brakeman Seo ended the 2015-2016 International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation season as the world's No. 1 pair after winning two gold and three silver medals at eight IBSF World Cup races.

Though they ranked seventh at the world championships, they were still able to end the season as the top-ranked tandem thanks to their second World Cup victory of the season last month in Germany.

Their coach, Malcolm Lloyd, who passed away in January at the age of 68, was named the top coach of the year. The Welshman led the South Korean bobsleigh team after the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and was credited with improving the team by implementing customized training methods.

Lee Dae-hoon, two-time World Taekwondo Federation Athlete of the Year, and Choi Mi-sun, the world's No. 1 female archer in recurves, received honors in the individual athlete category.

Lee collected seven gold medals in various taekwondo events last year. The 24-year-old has won medals at the World Taekwondo Championships, Asian Games and Asian Championships in his career, but has no Olympic gold which he will be targeting at the Rio de Janeiro Games this summer.

Choi, 19, had an incredible international debut season. Her accomplishments last year includes five gold and two silver medals at various World Cup, two runner-up finishes at the Summer Universiade, and two bronzes at the World Archery Championships. She also triumphed in the test event for the Rio Games in September.

Skeleton slider Yun Sung-bin and figure skater You Young took the rookie of the year awards. Yun, 21, ended last season as world No. 2 after winning one gold, three silver and two bronze medals from eight World Cup races. He also won a silver medal at the world championships last month, becoming the first Asian to reach the world podium in his sport.

You became the youngest South Korean national figure skating champion in January at age 11, breaking the previous record held by former Olympic champion figure skater Kim Yu-na.
