Astronergy Solar Korea expands CSR programs

Solar power equipment-maker Astronergy Solar Korea aims to become a model social contributor in the solar power industry by expanding its corporate social responsibility efforts.

The company, which specializes in developing solar modules for renewable energy, is a subsidiary of Chint Group, a major Chinese industrial electrical equipment producer.

Since 2011, Astronergy Solar Korea has taken part in corporate social programs including funding the annual Gangwon K-pop Concert for the success of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. Last year, the company also agreed to donate 20 million won ($16,600) and 60 kilowatts of solar-generated energy to Gangwon Province annually and to build solar power production facilities in the region within the next five years.

Astronergy Solar Korea has grown since it was founded in 2009 and it made 102.4 billion won in sales last year. The company ranked third in the solar module manufacturers category in the first quarter of 2014, based on financial health, profitability and cost leadership, and sustainable strategy, according to Photon Consulting,
