The South Korean two-man bobsleigh team of Won Yun-jong and Seo Young-woo finished seventh at the world championship in Austria on Sunday.
Won, the pilot, and Seo, his brakeman, posted a time of 3 minutes, 27.12 seconds in four runs at the 2016 International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation World Championship in Innsbruck on Saturday.
The duo was in seventh place after the first two runs of 1:43.51, and failed to move up in the standings over their final two runs.
Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis of Germany won their second consecutive title with 3:26.09. Another German tandem, Johannes Lochner and Joshua Bluhm, finished second, only 0.17 second behind. Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann of Switzerland took third place at 3:26.31.
Won and Seo are leading the IBSF World Cup standings with 1,337 points after seven stops, with one gold and three bronze medals. They're considered the best hope for South Korea's first-ever Olympic sledding medal when the country hosts its first Winter Games in PyeongChang in 2018.
In Austria this weekend, the duo couldn't maintain their form, with Seo dealing with a slight back injury.
Won and Seo will try to end their season on a high note at the final World Cup stop in Konigssee, Germany, on Feb. 27. (Yonhap)
