Season tickets for the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts went on sale Wednesday, marking the first time the center is adopting the season system, titled “Sejong Season 2016.“

A season system involves scheduling the whole year‘s program in advance.

For the 2016 season, from March this year to February next year, the Sejong Center is presenting a wide range of performances and exhibitions, including performances by the nine performance organizations affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

As part of Sejong Center’s new ”customized program,“ performances are grouped according to target audiences and seasons of the year. For example, family-oriented programs are planned for spring, vacation-themed performances for summer, romantic operas and dance performances for the fall and year-end performances for winter.

The Sejong Center chose four themes, including ”Sejong Chamber Hall 10th Anniversary,“ ”400th Anniversary of Shakespeare’s Death,“ ”Seoul“ and ”King Sejong“ as part of its programs.

Plays, operas, and ballet performances commemorating Shakespeare, including Seoul Metropolitan Opera’s “Macbeth” at the Grand Theater from Nov. 24-27 and ”Shakespeare in Ballet“ at M Theater from Oct. 28-Nov. 13 will be staged.

The Sejong Center will shed light on the value of history and culture with the themes of “Seoul” and “King Sejong.” The performances of the Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra and Seoul Metropolitan Chorus will interpret the past and present of Seoul with music and stories. King Sejong‘s love of music will be highlighted with “Musical Travel of King Sejong” at the Grand Theater on May 14 and “Dreaming Sejong the Great” at M Theater on May 27-28. King Sejong, best known for inventing Hangeul, also was a keen musician who composed several musical pieces.

The Sejong Center is offering ticket packages with discounts of up to 60 percent for those who plan to attend more than two performance during the 2016 season.

Package tickets are divided into four categories -- the Four Seasons of Sejong, Theme Special Package, As-You-Like Package and Seoul Art Groups Package.

Tickets can be reserved at the Sejong Center official website, www.sejongpac.or.kr, or via the Sejong Center hybrid mobile application for Android systems.
