The Partners for the Future Foundation, the nonprofit charity organization of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, pledged to continue its efforts to boost youth employment as it celebrated its 15th anniversary Wednesday.

The PFF, sponsored by AMCHAM members, has been lending a hand in helping young Koreans find jobs and improve their lives through educational and training assistance since its establishment in 2000.

“Giving back to the community is a part of the DNA of AMCHAM members and their employees, and we are very proud of their contributions,” said PFF chairman Jeffrey Jones.

This year, the foundation granted scholarships to 148 university students in need of financial support, driving up the total number of students who received assistance via the program to about 2,400.

The PFF joined hands with the executives of leading U.S companies to lead so-called “innovation camps” at local universities, among other events, aimed at offering career advice and guidance to Korean students.

AMCHAM and the PFF also offered internship positions to 70 Korean students, giving them a chance to “gain valuable experience on how to thrive in a multinational business environment,” according to the chamber.

Meanwhile, the PFF devised customized corporate social responsibility programs for AMCHAM members this year, as well as hosted the 11th annual CEO Servers’ Night in June, a unique fund-raising event featuring member company CEOs as waiters and waitresses.

“We look forward to continuing the challenge of giving back and making life better for those in need,” Jones said.
