Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. saw their market share in Russia hit an all-time monthly high in November despite overall slumping demand, industry data showed Wednesday.

According to the data by the Association of European Business, the two South Korea auto giants took up a combined 22.2 percent of the total car sales in November.

This was higher than the previous monthly record high of 22.1 percent set in September.

Hyundai Motor's sales in Russia dropped 7 percent on-year to 15,101 units, while Kia Motors saw its sales shrink 32 percent to 14,125 units.

Their lackluster sales were still better than the overall market slump in Russia, where auto sales tumbled 42.7 percent on-year to 131,572 units, the data showed.

During the January-November period, the cumulative market share for the two carmakers stood at 20.4 percent in Russia, according to the data.  (Yonhap)
