South Korea's central bank and the International Monetary Fund will jointly host an international conference on global financial crises, the bank said Wednesday.
The conference, titled "Leverage in Asia: Lessons from the Past, What's New Now, and Where to Watch Out For," will be held in Seoul on Dec. 11, according to the Bank of Korea.
"The conference takes stock of where Asia stands in the present credit cycle, explores new risks emerging from this leverage cycle, and considers potential policy responses," it said in a press release.
The one-day conference will begin with opening remarks by BOK Gov. Lee Ju-yeol, followed by a keynote speech from Siddharth Tiwari, director of strategy, policy and review department at the IMF.
It will consist of four sessions where officials from international organizations and central banks, including Yiping Huang from the People's Bank of China and Kim Hoe-jeong from South Korea's Ministry of Strategy and Finance, will discuss various issues ranging from where Asia stands currently and what kind of new risks the region may face in the future, to potential roles for policy.
The conference will bring together over 80 central bank officials and experts. (Yonhap)
