No South Korean casualties have been reported in the terrorist attacks in Paris, with Seoul trying to confirm whether any of its citizens were affected.

The death toll from what is believed to be Islam-related terror attacks launched on several places in the French capital Friday night (Paris time) reached 129 as of Sunday, with hundreds more injured.

"South Korea has so far confirmed no South Korean casualties, but it is continuing to check for any damage," an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Following the outbreak of the attacks in Paris, the ministry launched an emergency meeting for the protection of Koreans living overseas, with the Korean Embassy in France entering into an emergency situation mode to keep watch on potential South Korean damage.

About 14,000 South Koreans currently live in France, with nearly 9,000 of them in Paris.

A day earlier, the ministry issued a travel warning, advising travelers not to visit Paris or its adjacent areas because of safety concerns.

The French Embassy in Seoul started accepting condolence visits from French nationals staying in South Korea earlier in the day for a two-day run.

Due to the brutal terrorist attacks and to express deep solidarity with the victims and their families, the embassy said it will place a book inside the embassy for French people to come and pay their condolences.

On Saturday evening, a group of 400 French people held a small rally in commemoration of the terror victims in front of the embassy in central Seoul.

Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam will visit the embassy Monday to express condolences over the terrorist attacks. (Yonhap)
