South Korea agreed with Spain Tuesday to boost cooperation in the field of science, Seoul's ICT ministry said.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said it signed the memorandum of understanding with Spain to forge "pragmatic cooperation" between the two countries for the development of science technologies.

The ministry said Spain boasts high-end technologies in the renewable energy segment, adding it can partner with South Korean players to bolster further ties.

The exchange will include opening seminars and workshops, and joint studies for research and developments.

Spain is also an important partner for the science industry as it can work as a bridge to connect South Korea to the Latin American market as well, the ministry added.

The agreement was reached on the margins of the OECD Ministerial Meeting Daejeon 2015, World Science & Technology Forum, which will run through Friday in Daejeon, a city packed with science institutes, located 164 kilometers south of Seoul. (Yonhap)
