United Parcel Service announced Tuesday that it has significantly expanded its UPS Worldwide Express service to newly include 41,000 global postal codes, more than half of which are based in the Asia-Pacific region.
The expanded service, to become officially available starting Oct. 19, offers guaranteed-delivery options -- 10 a.m., 12 noon or 2 p.m. based on the destination -- for customers who previously had only end-of-day guarantees.
It is the “largest one-time expansion of the express delivery service in UPS’ history” and is particularly “geared toward use by customer companies with time-sensitive international shipment,” UPS said in a statement.
A major bulk of the new postal codes are based in the Asia-Pacific region, with UPS expanding coverage in Europe and Canada as well as parts of Latin America, India the Middle East and Africa.
“As more businesses in Asia participate in global value chains, the service expansion goes towards helping them to precisely manage the imports of manufacturing components and the exports of final products across Asia,” said Nando Cesarone, president of UPS Asia Pacific.
“Korea’s high-tech companies and auto manufacturers will be able to reap many benefits from the newly expanded UPS Worldwide Express service,” said UPS Korea president Na Jin-ki.
“Moreover, as competition heightens in Korea’s burgeoning e-commerce sector, UPS Worldwide Express can also ensure that retailers are better able to satisfy their consumers with faster delivery,” Na said.
