임신부 아내, 노약자석 앉았다 폭행당해" 글에 누리꾼 공분

지하철에서 노약자석에 타고 있던 한 임신부가 옆자리에 앉은 남성으로부터 배를 얻어맞는 등 폭행당했다는 글이 사회관계망서비스(SNS)에 올라와 공분을 사고 있다.

이달 초 페이스북 이용자 A씨는 자신의 계정에 글을 올려 "9월1일 저녁 7시10분경 미아→수유 방면으로 4호선 지하철을 타고 퇴근하던 제 아내가 폭행당했다"는 내용의 글을 올렸다.

A씨는 이 글에서 자신의 아내 B(30)씨가 임신 10주차이며, 당시 노약자석에 자리가 나 앉아 있다가 옆에 앉은 남성에게 어깨를 얻어맞았다고 밝혔다. 해당 남성은 B씨에게 노약자석 표시를 가리키며 "이거 안 보이느냐"고 했다고 한다.

B씨는 자신이 임신부임을 밝혔으나 이 남성은 욕설로 되받았고, 경찰에 신고한 B씨가 수유역에서 내려 걸어가는 그를 따라가 "기다리라"고 했으나 오히려 "왜 쫓아오느냐"며 B씨의 배를 쳤다고 A씨는 주장했다.

A씨는 "미안하다는 말 한마디면 넘어갈 일인데 '때린 기억이 없다'고 잡아떼며 심지어 아내를 무고죄로 고소하겠다고 한다"면서 목격자들의 도움을 요청했다.

당시 신고를 받고 현장에 출동한 경찰은 이 글에 가해자로 등장한 장모(66)씨를 폭행 혐의로 불구속 입건했다고 13일 밝혔다.

장씨는 경찰에서 자신의 혐의를 모두 부인한 것으로 전해졌다.

이 글은 SNS와 인터넷 카페 등에서 널리 공유됐다. 누리꾼들은 "이런 사람은 반드시 처벌받아야 한다"며 비난을 쏟아냈다.

경찰 관계자는 "글쓴이 주장처럼 B씨가 배를 맞았다는 장면은 폐쇄회로(CC)TV에 찍히지 않았다"며 "목격자가 한 사람 나왔지만 장씨가 B씨의 어깨를 치는 모습만 봤다고 해 추가 조사가 필요하다"고 말했다. (연합)

‘Pregnant woman punched for sitting on subway seat for elderly’

An online post claiming that a pregnant woman was punched several times by a man on a subway has sparked public outrage at the violence.

“My wife, who was returning home from work on subway Line 4, was attacked by a man around 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 1,” a man posted to his Facebook account.

In the post, the man says his 30-year-old wife, 10 weeks pregnant, was sitting on the seat reserved for the elderly and the weak when the man, surnamed Jang, 66, hit her on the shoulder after she refused to give up her seat.

According to the post, she told Jang she was pregnant but he cursed at her. After she got off at Suyu Station, she called the police, but Jang followed her and punched her again in the stomach.

Police arrived on the scene following the report and Jang was booked without detention for the assault charge, police said Sunday. But Jang denies the charge.

The incident gained wider attention Sunday after the post went viral on social media in Korea, some saying “this kind of person should be punished.”

The police said that they are investigating the case.
