A senior U.S. official will visit South Korea this week for an international health security conference set to bring together health officials and experts from around the world, the State Department said Sunday.

Judith Garber, acting assistant secretary in charge of oceans and international environmental and scientific affairs, will be in Seoul on Monday to attend the Global Health Security Agenda high-level meeting as the senior representative of the State Department, it said.

The conference, which is set to open Monday in Seoul for a three-day run, is expected to draw minister or vice minister-level officials from 46 countries, as well as health experts from the World Health Organization and other international organizations.

After Seoul, Garber will then visit Vietnam for meetings with senior officials there, the department said. (Yonhap)
