South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-yueng of Swansea City injured his hamstring in the club's Premier League season opener against Chelsea, though his coach expects to have him back in the fold in the next match.

Ki left the game in the 41st minute after he went down with pain in his right hamstring and was replaced by Jack Cork. Ki walked off the pitch on his own, and head coach Garry Monk told local media that the South Korean should be ready to face Newcastle United next weekend.

Swansea City held defending champ Chelsea to a 2-2 draw on the road. Oscar put Chelsea on the board in the 23rd minute, but Swansea City's Andre Ayew equalized just six minutes later.

Federico Fernandez committed an own goal to give Chelsea a 2-1 advantage at the half-hour mark. Then Swansea City caught a break 10 minutes into the second half, when Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was sent off for bringing down Bafetimbi Gomis in the box.

Gomis himself stepped up and shot it past newcomer Asmir Begovic to level the score again.

The other South Korean in the league, Lee Chung-yong of Crystal Palace, watched from the bench as his club defeated Norwich City 3-1. (Yonhap)
