FCA Korea, the local importer and distributor of U.S. automaker Chrysler Group LLC, is recalling more than 200 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs in South Korea due to air bag flaws, the transportation ministry said Friday.
The recall affects 231 Jeep Grand Cherokees produced between March 27, 2013, and Jan. 13, 2014, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
A defect in software for the air bags could interfere with the safety device's ability to deploy during car crashes, it said.
The ministry also said the South Korean importer and distributor for PSA Peugeot Citroen will recall certain models of the French carmaker over faulty suspension bolts in the front suspension system that could create unnecessary noise, as well as reduce the vehicle's steering control.
The recall includes 349 units of the Peugeot 308 produced between Jan. 15 and Nov. 13 last year, 94 units of the Peugeot 308 SW made between April 22 and Nov. 26 in 2014 and 337 units of the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso built between Nov. 12, 2013, and Nov. 14, 2014.
The Citroen C4 Picasso made between July 3 and Oct. 13, 2014, will also be taken back for repairs, according to the ministry. (Yonhap)
