Singer Park Bo-ram dropped her first EP “Celepretty” on Thursday.
After making a splash on the star discovery program “Superstar K2,” 21-year-old Park made her official debut last August with the single “Beautiful” featuring Zico of Block B.
The song made waves for its autobiographical story of a girl who became beautiful through a hard diet ― Park herself lost 32 kilograms while preparing her first release.
Her new medium-tempo title track “Celepretty” continues the true-story theme. The lyrics are about how it feels to be a celebrity from the perspective of a star who is just starting in her career.
“The album’s title is a combination of the words ‘celebrity’ and ‘pretty,’” Park explained at her first-ever press showcase at Yes24 MUV Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on Thursday. “It’s an album that reflects how I want to grow into a beautiful celebrity.”
As part of that development, she is also writing her own music to better reflect her true personality. “There’s a song I’m working on, expressing my true feelings about wanting to fall in love,” she said. “It will probably be a quiet, acoustic track.”
Park Bo-ram’s EP “Celepretty” has six tracks, including one that is only available on the CD edition. Park Bo-ram’s powerful ballad vocals, which helped her in the “Superstar K2” competition, can be heard on the track “Lonely Night.”
