South Korea's tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. said Monday it will work with Swedish furniture maker IKEA Group on wireless-charging technology for smart devices through furnishings.

The announcement followed debut of Samsung's latest flagships, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, that come with a built-in batteries that can be charged without cords, a new technological breakthrough for the industry.

"This is a perfect match for the Galaxy S6 and its groundbreaking wireless technology, compatible with any wireless pad in the market, including the new furniture from IKEA. Through this, Samsung and IKEA are helping consumers live a more comfortable life at home," Samsung said.

"Our new innovative solutions, which integrate wireless charging into home furnishings, will make life at home simpler," IKEA added.

Samsung said the new wireless charging collection from IKEA will be available for sale in Europe and North America starting April 2015, timed with the official launch of the Galaxy S6 models.

The Swedish firm opened the world's largest IKEA shop on Dec.

18 in South Korea, with four more set to be opened by 2020 in the country. (Yonhap)
