A group of housekeepers and chauffeurs working for LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo and his family have sued one union leader and two activists protesting in front of the tycoon’s house in Hannam-dong, central Seoul.

According to the Seoul Southern District Court, six people working at Koo’s residence have recently filed an injunction against the labor union leader of LG Uplus’ subcontractor and two Hope Union officials for interfering in their duties.

“Koo’s residence is a workplace for the six ― housekeepers stay at the residence while the others spend a considerable amount of time there. The unionists have been creating a disturbance by denouncing Koo through a megaphone and aiming a bright light into the house at night, causing the in-house workers great stress,” according to the complaint filed at the court.

LG Uplus has also requested the protesters to stay away from Koo’s house and a ban on a catchphrase with his name that is being used by them.

Technicians of a subcontracting company of LG Uplus have been demanding the telecommunications company hire them directly. They have recently moved from Yeouido to Hannam-dong to pitch their voice to Koo.

An LG Group spokesman said that Koo did not order any legal countermeasures against them, including the injunctions.
