Family members and friends flocked to a funeral parlor at a Seoul hospital on Wednesday to bid their final farewell to late actress Kim Ja-ock. 

The funeral at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in southern Seoul was also attended by celebrities. The mourners wailed and hugged each other when the hearse left the hospital for a nearby crematorium. 

Kim died of lung cancer three days earlier at age 63. She underwent successful surgery for colorectal cancer in April 2008 and resumed acting the following month. But cancer spread to her lungs and lymph glands, leading to her hospitalization.

Her body will be cremated and laid to rest at a memorial park in Seongnam, a city just south of Seoul, according to her family.

Kim starred in a series of hit films and television dramas since her debut in 1970. She remained a fixture in TV shows and commercials well past her 50s, and also released an album in 1996

to briefly dabble at a singing career. (Yonhap)
