ARM, a U.K-based chip designer, said Tuesday that tech companies should strive to design products that make use of complex technology such as semiconductors simple and easy to use.

Simplicity will further spur tech firms to make a leap into the upper echelons of the industry.

“State-of-the-art technology is hidden and invisible but is certainly leading the industry,” said Antonio Viana, president of ARM’s commercial and global development, in his keynote speech at the ARM Tech Symposium 2014 in Seoul.

“We all need to do our part in driving what is unseen to ensure that consumers continue to push the industry.”

He picked out plug-and-play digital devices as a primary example of simplicity.

At the annual conference, participants discussed a range of issues related to the Internet of Things and industries including automobiles, chips and operating systems.

They also discussed the emerging 64-bit technology, which is expected to be widely adopted by Android smartphone manufacturers in the near future.

ARM unveiled its new ARM Mali mobile graphics processors for mobile phones, including Mali-T820, T830 and T860 and GPU instruction sets called the ARM Mali suite of Integrated Media IP ― with which chip manufacturers can deploy cost-efficient and energy-saving technologies.

Mobile devices embedded with the new processors will be available as early as 2015.
