Organizers of the upcoming meeting of the International Telecommunications Union slated for next week said Tuesday they will showcase Korean culture and the country’s development in the information and communication technology sector at the opening and closing ceremonies.

According to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the opening ceremony, to be held at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center on Monday, with participants including ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Toure, will promote the country’s competitiveness in the ICT sector with a video clip dubbed “Welcome to ICT Korea.”

After the screening, organizers will deliver commemorative stamps of the event to Toure before showing another video on old methods of communications, such as beacon fire stations and drawings of ancient Korean delegations sent to other countries.

Korea Post has issued about 1.02 million sheets of the stamps here in four designs, including one showing the 8,429-meter-long Gwangan Bridge in the port city of Busan, located 453 kilometers southeast of Seoul. (Yonhap)
