10살 정도 먹은 이 비만 고양이 “킹 레오”가 도로 외각에서 캐리어 안에 갇힌 상태에서 발견되었는데 그와 함께 있던 쪽지에는 그가 최소한 한번 이상 버려졌다는 내용이 적혀있었다.
비만 고양이가 발견됐을 당시 털이 비, 흙탕물에 의해 후줄그레한 상태였으며 바닥에 깔린 매트와 엉킨 털로 인해 움직일 수 없는 상태였다.
“노는 것을 좋아하고 사람을 좋아하는 고양이다. 감량을 도와주기 위해 방해되는 털을 깎아야 했다. 보통 고양이들은 자신의 털을 미는 것을 매우 싫어하는데 킹 레오는 우리가 그를 도와준다는 것을 알았는지 거부를 안했다.” 라고 램플리가 한 인터뷰에서 밝혔다.
킹 레오의 감량을 위해 물에 놓인 트레드밀을 걷게 하며 그와 함께 건강학 식단을 짤 예정이라고 한다.

Abandoned obese cat going on a diet
An obese cat weighing 30 lbs. (13.6kg) was found abandoned on the side of the road, according to the Daily Mail.
The 10-year-old “King Leo” was found in a carrier along with a note that revealed he had been abandoned at least once before.
His fur was bedraggled and he couldn’t properly move due to the long fur and “mats on his belly.”
King Leo was sent to a cat’s rescue center where a staff member adopted him.
“He is a very playful cat and loves people. We had to remove his hair because it was hindering his exercise. Most house cats don’t like it when someone shaves them but it was like King Leo knew that we wanted to help him -- he just laid there and let us shave him,” said the worker, Lampley, who adopted the cat.
The cat is being put on a treadmill, located in water, where he can easily exercise. A proper diet will be also arranged for him.
