Police said Friday that they have brought additional child abandonment charges against a 50-year-old female suspect accused of murdering two men.

The suspect, identified only by her surname Lee, has been under investigation over suspicions that she killed her husband and boyfriend, and abandoned their bodies at her house in this city 46 kilometers north of Seoul.

The double murder case sent shock waves across the country as the two bodies were found wrapped with blankets inside a rubber container in the house where Lee's 8-year-old son was left alone.

In referring the case to the Pocheon Prosecutors' Office, the Pocheon Police Station said it was charging Lee on suspicion of abandoning her son for nearly two months by locking him inside the house.

During questioning by police, Lee admitted to killing the second man, a foreigner that she allegedly came across on the street, and said she regretted her actions.

Lee, however, denied killing her 51-year-old husband, claiming that he had died of natural causes 10 years ago and that she just "hoarded" the body.

Police said they will continue investigating the case as they believe that Lee killed both men.

"There is still a firm belief that Lee murdered her husband,"

said Kim Jae-woong, a lead investigator on the case.

During police questioning, Lee said that her son, who was crying in the house at the time of her arrest, was her child from a relationship with another foreign man. (Yonhap)
