Samsung SDS, a systems integration business arm of Samsung Group, aims to boost its presence in global markets based on its competitive edge in the information and communication technology solutions business.
As the first step toward becoming a leading global ICT firm, Samsung SDS will put more focus on improving its capability to conduct overseas projects and developing high-value-added ICT solutions in a wide range of fields, such as health care, education and security, according to the company.
“Samsung SDS will continuously aim to build infrastructure including state-of-the-art data centers, seek more merger and acquisition deals at home and abroad, and establish partnerships with other global firms,” an official from the SDS said.

By completing the first initial public offering this year, the company seeks to strengthen its financial soundness before expanding global business operations.
Also included in the blueprint for the expansion are securing advanced ICT technology in mobile, cloud and big data services, recruiting a talented workforce, and running more research and development centers overseas.
Presiding over a meeting held in June in Seoul, Samsung SDS chief executive Jun Dong-soo discussed the firm’s global business strategies with the top brass to overcome an uphill battle the company faces this year due to prolonged global economic sluggishness.
Jun is said to have ordered his executives to constantly seek opportunities overseas.
The firm’s annual revenue rose more than 60 percent last year to around 7 trillion won from 4.4 trillion won ($4.3 billion) in 2012.
Based on the growing volume of global sales ― which accounted for more than one-third of its business portfolio in 2013 ― Samsung SDS aims for revenue to surpass 9 trillion won next year, officials said.
