LG Electronics on Tuesday said it plans to apply its latest Knock Code feature to its earlier devices through a regular update.

The company said the feature, first introduced in February with the launch of the 5.9-inch phablet G Pro 2, will also be available for the G2 and the G Flex models through updates.

The unlocking sequence ― involving raps on the screen to unlock the phone ― will gradually be applied to earlier models as well, the company said.

It added that users could update their devices to get the feature through downloads, meaning they would not have to visit service centers.

The update will be provided for devices sold in South Korea only, with no plan to expand it to other markets.

LG said its method to unlock smartphones beefed up security as users can use the tapping sequence to set passwords, which can create up to 80,000 combinations.
