가수 로이킴이 CJ E&M과 전속 계약을 맺고 올가을 두 번째 정규 앨범을 발표한다.
24일 CJ E&M 음악사업부문에 따르면 현재 미국 조지타운대학교에서 유학 중인 로이킴이 전속 계약 체결과 함께 올가을부터 새 앨범 발매 및 콘서트로 활동을 재개 한다.
CJ E&M 관계자는 "학업과 음악 활동을 병행할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않을 것"이라며 "로이킴은 현재 미국에서 공부하며 곡 작업을 하고 있다"고 설명했다.
로이킴은 2012년 엠넷 '슈퍼스타K 4' 우승자 출신으로 지난해 4월과 6월 디지털 싱글 '봄봄봄'과 정규 1집 '러브 러브 러브'를 잇달아 발표해 큰 사랑을 받았다. 그 러나 '봄봄봄'이 표절 논란에 휘말리며 곤욕을 치렀다.
로이킴은 "열심히 고민하고 더욱 신중하게 앨범을 준비해 좋은 음악으로 찾아뵙겠다"고 전했다.

Singer-songwriter and “Superstar K4” winner Roy Kim has signed with CJ E&M and will release his sophomore studio album this fall, according to the company.
Roy Kim, currently a student at Georgetown University in the United States, is in the process of preparing his upcoming album while pursuing his studies. Kim is slated to return to the Korean music scene later this year equipped with a new album and concert schedule, said CJ E&M.
“We understand and respect Kim’s situation. We will support him to the best of our abilities so that he can focus on both studies and music,” said the music company.
Known for his folk-pop style, Roy Kim, a.k.a. Kim Sang-woo, won the music audition program “Superstar K4” in 2012 and released his successful first studio album “Love Love Love” in the following year.
Last year, Kim was plagued by rumors that he had plagiarized a song by another musician, “Love is Canon” by indie artist Acoustic Rain, while writing his debut single “Spring Spring Spring.”
“I will put my best effort and care into creating better music,” said Roy Kim. “I am grateful to all those who have waited for and supported me.”
