Incheon International Airport has topped the prestigious Airport Service Quality survey for the ninth consecutive year.

Of the 1,847 airports that competed, the local airport had the highest track record in the survey, according to the Incheon Airport authorities.

The facility scored an overall 4.97 points out of 5 in a survey of 350,000 international passengers in 2013 by the Airports Council International. It also won in the categories of “Best Airport in Asia-Pacific” and “Best Airport for 25 million to 40 million passengers.” Singapore Changi Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, New Delhi Indira Gandhi International, and Taipei International Airport followed Incheon in the two categories.

The airports were surveyed on various aspects of service including hospitality, hygiene and facility management.

“The success of Incheon Airport was made possible with the full support and confidence of the government, and also thanks to the united efforts of over 40,000 staff and workers at the airport,” said Jung Chang-soo, president and CEO of the airport corporation. “We will continue to work to become a leader in the global aviation industry by sustaining service competitiveness and upgrading every aspect of airport management.”

Incheon Airport first ranked No. 1 in the ASQ survey in 2005, four years after opening in 2001. It has maintained its status since then. In 2011, it became the first airport to be admitted as a member of ACI’s “Roll of Excellence” program.

Following Incheon, Dubai International Airport had three wins between 2001 and 2003.

The award ceremony for this year’s ASQ winner will take place on May 27 during the ACI World General Assembly, which will be held May 26-28 at Coex in southern Seoul.

The assembly is expected to draw up to 600 global leaders from airports, airlines and international institutions.

Incheon Airport will host the assembly and seek to further promote its status and brand value in the global aviation industry to strengthen its international network, the company said.
